The ship is sinking

And I can't swim

What do I do?

How do I win?

It's going down fast

With me inside

But I have a peace

I can't seem to hide

There's a spirit with me

On this broken boat

It's presence is all around

It's love it devotes

It keeps me calm

It keeps me still

It gives me hope

I trust in it's will

Well "it" is a He

And He has everything

In the palm of his hand

And that's why I can sing

We're going to make it

We're going to get through

We're going to be fine

And get out of this zoo

He has a plan

Be of good cheer

He'll take away pain

He'll take away fear

So yes the ship is sinking

But I have learned how to swim

I now know what to do

I now know how to win

I need to press on

I need to pray

He'll help us through this mess

Somehow, someway

Rileigh, age 15

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Mark 4:39

There are numerous scriptures in the Bible that inspire us and fill us with hope--beloved promises we turn to in time of trouble or temptation. One of my favorites, however, is Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." What a promise! Here we see a good, just, loving, kind God who affirms that He will never leave us. He will always be right there with us to help and strengthen us and take us by the hand so we are able to go through whatever we face in life. Also important to note is that He will calm our fears and tells us there is no need for alarm or distress. Just like God's Son was IN the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew boys, so He will be with us IN whatever trouble we are facing--not on the outside looking in, but right there with us in the middle of the problem. That gives us peace in the midst of the storm raging all around us and the confidence to hold steady, knowing he will bring us through as more than a conqueror. What more do we need? We have the Creator of all by our side ready to help us as long as we live for and follow Him. If God be for us, who can be against us?!

Life Goes On

By Alayna, age 15

When you can’t figure out what God has in store

Or you can’t find a reason for life to go on anymore

When you can’t find the past, be the present, see the future

Just put your faith in God, our Lord, our Savior

Because life goes on

When life gives you lemons and stomps on your parade

And you don’t know how to march or make lemonade

Just know that God is with you, from you He won’t depart

Just close your eyes, take a breath, and trust Him with all your heart

Because life goes on

When life is almost dreaded and the path is so unclear

And you feel that you just stand alone in pain and constant fear

When you can’t see the horizon or find the next shore

Just know that when God shuts one, he opens another door

Because life goes on

I don’t have all the answers and I haven’t much a clue

But I know that if you’re hurting, God really cares for you

He gave us a solemn promise, a covenant, an oath

He will never forsake you; He’ll help you and your problem both

And He will help your life go on

When I think of how far I've come

from the day you passed,

I realize,

I am stronger.

If I could bring you back I would,

but then I think

and I realize,

you wouldn't want that.

There are things that have happened

since you've been gone,

and I realize,

that if you came back

everything would change.

There are things that God does

and we don't always understand,

but I realize,

that God's plan is perfect

and everything will be okay.
